Should you deploy, rebuild or start the application?
Choose the right action to publish new code or start a stopped website.
In this guide
Choose the right action
Deploy fetches the selected branch's latest commit. Rebuild builds the currently live commit again; if no deployment is live yet, it uses the branch's latest version. Stop stops the application and Start starts a stopped application. You need website management permissions.
Run the action
- Open the correct website and check its current status and the commit on Overview.
- To publish the latest GitHub code, select Deploy at the top of the page.
- To build the current code version again, select Rebuild. This performs a build and deployment rather than a quick process restart.
- If the website was intentionally stopped, select Start. For a planned shutdown, select Stop and expect downtime until you start the application again.
- Wait for the action to finish before starting another.
Verify the result
Follow building on Deploys and startup on Logs. Open the website address and test its main features. To return to an older code version, use Roll back in deployment history.
If a button is unavailable
Another action may be in progress, the service may be inactive or your user may lack management permissions. If the application repeatedly crashes, investigate the log error before repeatedly trying to start it.
