Increase mailbox storage
Check usage, raise a mailbox quota and resolve a full mailbox.
In this guide
Check the two separate limits
A mailbox can have its own storage quota while the service has a shared disk limit. Raising one mailbox's quota does not increase the total disk space included in your plan. A full mailbox can stop receiving new messages.
Raise the mailbox quota
- Open your service's cPanel and Email Accounts. Check the address's used and allocated space.
- Select Manage and find Storage or Allocated Storage Space.
- Enter a new permitted amount and check the unit, such as MB or GB. The available maximum depends on your service.
- Save the email settings and confirm the new limit in the account list.
Free space carefully
Find large messages and attachments in webmail. Save important messages and attachments before deleting them. Also check Sent, Spam and Trash. cPanel's Email Disk Usage can help identify large folders when available.
Deleting a message from an IMAP account also removes it from other synchronized devices. Moving messages into another server folder does not free an equivalent amount of disk space.
Check incoming mail
Send a new test message from an external address. The sender of an already rejected message may need to send it again. If the quota cannot be increased or the service's total disk space is full, review your plan options or ask support to assess the additional space needed.
