Start with the basics

Take a backup and update WordPress and the plugins and themes in use. Remove unused components after checking that the site does not need them. Security measures complement this basic maintenance.

Review Security Measures

  1. Open WP Toolkit / WordPress Management in cPanel.
  2. Open Security and choose the correct website. Depending on the interface, expand its details and open Security Measures.
  3. Read each suggested measure. Check whether it can be reverted and whether it may affect a plugin you use.
  4. Select suitable measures and apply them with Secure. Test significant changes on a staging copy first.
  5. Check the site after each controlled change. If a reversible measure causes a problem, undo that specific measure using Revert.

Maintain user accounts

Give every administrator their own account and a strong, unique password. Grant content editors only the role their work requires. Enable WordPress two-factor authentication with a trusted, maintained solution and store recovery codes securely.

Follow up on findings

Test sign-in, forms, media and integrations. A WP Toolkit check does not guarantee the site is malware-free. If you find unknown administrators, unexpected redirects or modified files, preserve the evidence and contact support. Fix the entry point before returning to normal operation; dismissing a warning does not resolve it.
